Additional Learning Needs (ALN)

At St Padarn’s there will be many pupils who have an additional need at some point in their time with us. Some pupils come with an already recognised need and others will have their need identified by staff within the school. Pupils will be supported sympathetically and with a range of strategies depending on their need. We currently have pupils in St Padarn’s with a range of additional learning, medical, social and emotional and behavioural needs.

From September 2021 Welsh Government is introducing a new code for ALN – the Additional Learning Needs and Education Tribunal code. The new code means that any pupil with a need which is significantly greater than their peers will have access to additional support and will have an Individual Development Plan (IDP). The IDP is a statutory plan maintained by the school that sets out a description of a child’s ALN, the additional learning provision (ALP) and also contains a One Page Profile. These will be reviewed with parents and pupils, ensuring that the views, wishes and feelings of the children and their parents are taken into consideration.

Mrs Rowe is the Additional Learning Needs Co-ordinator for St Padarn’s RC Primary School . Please contact her to make an appointment if you would like to discuss any aspect of your child’s education relating to additional learning needs.
