Safeguarding Information

The school is alert to signs of abuse and neglect and will follow the procedures as laid out by Ceredigion County Council to ensure that children receive rapid, appropriate and proportionate, effective support to protect them from harm or abuse and to maintain their health and well-being. Parents of Padarn Sant should know that the law requires all school staff to pass on information which gives rise to a concern about a child’s welfare, including risk from neglect, physical and emotional harm, domestic violence in the home or sexual abuse.

The Child Protection Officers may discuss certain concerns with the parent first and the matter is then resolved. However, the concerns may still remain and we will inform the parents/ guardians of our intentions to refer our concerns to Social Services. Sometimes we are unable to discuss these concerns with you directly, if advised by the LA Safeguarding Officer, and in this instance a referral will be made to Social Services, with no warning to the parent. This process is never done lightly and we appreciate the cooperation and understanding of parents if we have to go around the parent to ensure all reasonable steps are taken to protect the pupils of Padarn Sant.  It is important that parents understand our duty of care and that we are working with you and many disclosures are easily resolved once discussed with the help of the  Social Services Team.
