Role of the Governors

The governing body’s responsibility is to approve the strategic vision for the school in partnership with the Headteacher, promoting continuous improvement in the school’s performance in harmony with the Catholic ethos of the school. This involves: establishing a school development plan (SDP); setting challenging but achievable targets; interpreting information to assess progress and determine appropriate action; and placing Christ at the centre of all of our teaching and learning.

The governing body has statutory responsibility for overseeing the school’s financial viability.

The governing body is the employer of all of staff at St Padarn’s.

Alongside and in conjunction with its improvement role, the governing body acts as a ‘critical friend’ providing a balance between supporting and challenging the performance of both the Headteacher and the school.

The role of governor is completely voluntary. Governors receive no remuneration for their work.

During Advent 2021, Fr Matt led a retreat for our governors to bring us together so that we could pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit in all of our work for St Padarn’s.
